Looking Ahead

Hey guys! I've been a little MIA, but I want to give you a look ahead on the posts I'll be doing soon! I have a lot of series coming up that I'm very excited for!
Series
  • Star Wars
  • Harry Potter Houses
  • Quick Looks
Other tutorials I have coming up include my homecoming makeup look and a Ke$ha tutorial. I have a few hauls coming up as well. If you have any requests, leave them in the comments below!

I'm going to try and get these posts done as soon as I can. I'm in between sports seasons, so I have a bit more time on my hands, but I'm still going to have a lot going on. I'm about to start cheerleading, indoor field hockey, training with my soccer goalie coach, the musical, Youth In Government, and not to mention maintaining my grades, community service and social life. I've also gone through a lot emotionally lately. One of my schoolmates passed away, and it has been hard on me. Thank you to all of you who have stuck with me. If you have any requests, please leave them in the comments below!

Hair, Beauty, Skincare, and Other Tips for an Athlete

Hey everyone! Wow there hasn't been a post in 2 months. I've been crazy busy with field hockey, and I noticed my beauty, hair and skincare routine has changed a lot during the season, so I figured I'd share my tips with you!

Beauty
  • If you have sports after school, try to minimize the amount of makeup you wear to school. If you play a high activity sport that makes you sweat a lot, the makeup will just run off your face and look gross.
  • If you are wearing any face makeup, make sure you wash it off or it will clog your pores.
  • If you insist upon wearing makeup for sports, stick to a waterproof mascara and/or eyeliner. Don't wear blush because your cheeks will get a natural flush.
Hair
  • If you have bangs, pull them back with a headband, bobby pins or something like that. You don't want to let your bangs get all sweaty against your forehead.
  • Pull your hair back or up. I recommend, if your hair is long enough, a high or low ponytail, a high or low bun, or a french braid.
Skincare
  • Especially if you sweat a lot, wash your face when you finish your workout, practice or game. If you wear a helmet in your sport, this is very important. As a field hockey goalie, I wear a helmet and I do notice I get acne especially where my helmet touches my face.
  • Shower. Please. I know this is kind of a no-brainer, but please, if you sweat and smell after sports, shower.
  • Wear deodorant and anti-perspirant. No one likes to feel or smell sweaty. We also don't like to smell the sweat of others if it can be avoided. So please, for your benefit and the benefit of those around you, wear deodorant.
Other
  • Wear the proper attire for your sport. You probably wouldn't wear a swimsuit to soccer practice or a soccer uniform for swim team. Wear what is comfortable, appropriate, and suitable for your sport. For girls, if you're running, wear a sports bra, and clothes you can move in.
  • In your gym/sports bag, keep extras. Whether a teammate needs something or you forget something one day, it never hurts to keep extra hair ties, bobby pins, headbands, socks and a change of clothes in your bag.
  • Bring a water bottle if you don't have something you can drink out of. Don't share water bottles. I know you're friends with all of your teammates but if someone has mono or something like that, the whole team being sick won't be good.
Have fun and stay healthy!

TAG: 8 Questions

I was tagged by Vanessa to do this tag. Sorry about the lack of posts (I've been sick), but enough of my babbling...let's do the tag.

1. Do you think you are a shopaholic?
Well, I wouldn't say I'm a shopaholic, but I do LOVE to shop...maybe I am a shopaholic :)
2. Who is your all time fave celebrity?
This is a tough one. I love Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, Michael Bublé, Steve Jobs (idk if most people consider him a celeb, but I think he is)...I'll edit this if I think of other people
3. What are your guilty pleasures?
Foodwise, it is White Cheddar Cheez-its and any kind of Goldfish. TV-wise, it would be Kourtney & Khloé Take Miami, The Bachelorette, Holly's World, and Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List. YouTube videos and make-up are also guilty pleasures of mine.
4. Do you like skirts or dresses more?
It depends...I love maxi dresses, casual high-waisted skirts, and formal dresses.
5. What is your holy grail makeup item?
Either Benetint, CoverGirl Lashblast Volume Waterproof in Very Black, or Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero
6. What do you never leave the house without?
My iPhone. It is my life.
7. What's your fave reality tv show?
I have a lot. I love Jeopardy (I know, I'm a nerd). I watch it every day. I also like Wipeout, Kourtney & Khloé Take Miami and the Bachelorette (btw-if you're watching this season, who do you think Ali will end up with).
8. What do you like most about my blog? ;) (LOL)
It is awesome :)

3. What is your holy-grail makeup item?
4. Do you watch reality TV? If so, what are your top 3 shows?

June 2010 Favorites

June Favorites
June Favorites
1. MAC Eye Kohl in Float on By
I love this eyeliner. It looks so pretty on your waterline. Since I don't like to use colored eye shadow, this can really add to a boring neutral eye look when put on the water line.
2. Benefit Benetint
I absolutely love this product. I wear it on both my lips and cheeks. I honestly own 2 blushes (NARS Orgasm and Benetint) and I don't even want more because I love my Benetint so much. I own the regular full size and for Costa Rica I also bought the pocket pal. Benetint is amazing and looks so natural. I love it!
3. MAC Tinted Lip Conditioner in Popster
I got this at my local CCO and it is so moisturizing! I love the color and it feels so nice on your lips. Plus, I love Hello Kitty.
4. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero
This is the best eyeliner ever. It says waterproof and lives up to it's claim. I wore this hiking and swimming in Costa Rica and it stayed on. This eyeliner is amazing. Seriously, if you don't have this eyeliner, you need it. I definitely will purchase this in other colors.
5. CoverGirl Waterproof LashBlast Volume Mascara in Very Black
This mascara is great. I love it. When it says waterproof, it means it. It stays on for so long. I wore this hiking and swimming in Costa Rica and it didn't budge. This is my holy-grail mascara.
6. Chambray Shirts
I have one from American Eagle (pictured) and I love it. It's so comfortable. When paired with light shorts and a leather belt it looks so effortlessly cool. I love chambray shirts.
7. Aviators
My favorite sunglasses shape. They're just so...classic I guess. They're so effortless. (In case you haven't picked up on it I'm really into natural and effortless)
8. Fedoras
I love my American Eagle fedora. In the summer, it's really important to protect yourself from the sun and with my hat, I can look cute while doing it.
9. Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Nail Polish in Jumpin' Jade
My friend had this with her in Costa Rica and we painted our nails with it and it stayed on the entire trip without a base or top coat. I like them so much more than OPI. This looks perfect with one coat without a top or base coat and dries so quickly. It also lasts way longer. I love the color; it looks like a forest on your nails!
10. White American Apparel V-Neck
I love white shirts and my white American Apparel V-Neck is my favorite. It's so comfortable...I could live in it. Sadly, I got blue paint on mine when I was painting a school in Costa Rica, but I'm definitely replacing it...I can't live without it!
12. Turquoise Necklaces
I got a gorgeous handmade turquoise necklace in Costa Rica and I've worn it (almost) every day since I got it. I love turquoise jewelry.
13. Earth Tones
For my trip to Costa Rica, I got a lot of earth tone clothes to wear hiking and while I was there. I've fallen in love with whites, khakis, and greens. I used to be a neon person, but now I'm absolutely in love with earth tones. They just look so natural and effortless.
14. Side Braids/Natural Hair
In Costa Rica, I didn't have my straightener so I had to learn to love my natural hair and what I could do with it. I have naturally curly hair and I finally love it. I'm lazy, and I don't want to take forever to straighten my hair only to have it frizz when I go outside into the humidity. Plus, natural hair is so much healthier for your hair.

BONUS:
15. Hiking
16. White Water Rafting
17. Soccer
18. Zip-Lining
19. Traveling with Friends
20. Costa Rica (that's a shock, because I haven't mentioned it at all)

Pura Vida!

My Costa Rica Trip

I just went on a trip to Costa Rica with my school. Nine of us went plus 3 chaperones. We went all around Costa Rica and stayed there for 12 days. We went hiking, white-water rafting, zip-lining, soaking in naturally-heated volcanic hot springs, and swimming. We also did a home stay, went shopping in a souvenir market in San José, went to museums in San José and went to the beach. It was amazing!
This is a suspension bridge over the Sarapiqui River we crossed while hiking.

This is the national theater of Costa Rica in San José.
This is the Orosi Valley. In the valley we played soccer in church ruins. It was so fun!

This is the Volcan Irazu's principal crater.
This is the village we stayed in for the home stay. We got to hike, play with the kids in our home stay family, paint a school, watch the World Cup, play cards and learn to cook Costa Rican Food.

Hope everyone's having a great summer!

Pura Vida
